DiAndre Jackson

DiAndre Jackson is a Milwaukee native. As a labor and community activist and father he is a true embodiment of our city’s spirit and resilience.

Growing up in Milwaukee, DiAndre is a proud graduate of Bay View High School. During high school he maintained an interest in math, drafting, construction and football. While still in high school, his enthusiasm for property management began and he used his skills to repair, remodel, restore homes. Through a HUD (Housing and Urban Development) program, DiAndre purchased his first home and was able to make all the repairs himself. To further hone his skillset, he participated in Milwaukee’s BIG STEP Program focusing on construction training, heavy equipment use, carpentry, and safety. In 2008 DiAndre began his 16-year career with Master Lock Corporation. A life-long learner, DiAndre pursued in metallurgy and electrical training to become a skilled Metallurgist at the company.

Throughout his career with Master Lock, DiAndre didn't just work — he championed the rights of his fellow employees in UAW Local 469. His passion for organizing and human and civil rights led DiAndre to become a Union Steward. He furthered his Union commitment by running a successful campaign to become the Head Trustee of his Local. He was honored to introduce President Barack Obama when he spoke at Master Lock in 2012. He also chaired the Local’s Education and Human & Civil Rights Committees. Additionally, he led the annual UAW Labor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, which, sponsored numerous students to attend the HBCU College Tour. He played a pivotal role in negotiating the final contract as Master Lock prepared to close its doors in Milwaukee and he is still an active member of the UAW Local 469 and is currently an organizer for the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO.

DiAndre presently serves as the Chairman of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists in Milwaukee, he is an Executive Board Member at Milwaukee Area Labor Council, and a member of the UAW State Community Action Program, the A. Phillip Randolph Institute for Social & Economic Justice and other civic organizations.

Throughout his tenure, DiAndre has met and worked with a multitude of politicians and social activists; many of whom he now calls friends and supporters. It was DiAndre’s dedication to his community and fellow Union brothers and sisters that earned him the support of family, friends, and co-workers.

DiAndre is determined to make Milwaukee number one in apprenticeships, continue to support and build the community organizations in his district, and provide timely and responsive service to the residents in the 7th Aldermanic District.
